To support and inform the process of course development, 16 application oriented case studies were conducted within the framework of BInUCom. Such location specific case studies are broadly missing in the Indian context and urgently needed as a basis for course development.

Supported by European Partners, each of the Indian partners conducted four case studies in the context of informal housing on topics such as:

• Social Inclusion
• Sustainable Housing ( including sustainable building and Energy efficiency)
• Participatory mapping (including social indicators, community quality of life monitoring; GIS; slum mapping, upgrading and governance)
• Environmental Risk Assessment (including climate change and risk adaptation)
