DUK (Danube University Krems), coordinator
is a university exclusively oriented toward continuing education, encompassing the needs of working professionals. The University offers master's programs in five areas of study. Serving more than 8,000 students and with 16,000 graduates from 90 countries, it is one of the leading providers of further education courses in Europe. Danube University Krems was founded in 1994.
The Department for Migration and Globalization (DUK-MIG) focuses on migration, a critical issue of modern societies. In so doing the department wants to contribute to a better understanding of the processes at work to promote social cohesion and wellbeing. The department team covers a wide range of professional disciplines such that it may address the complexity of migration and globalization from various vantage points.
The Department for Management and Economics (DUK-WMW) strives to be number one in Europe in executive education and sets standards by its state-of-the art curricula tailored to a manager’s needs in the fast-paced 21st century. As a lifelong career coach and partner to executives the department caters to their specific needs with cutting-edge managerial knowledge delivered by flexible blended learning formats based on latest technology. This allows the department to have a lasting impact on both, the managers’ careers and self-development and current challenges facing Society.
The department is member of PRME, an initiative launched by the United Nations. As institution of higher education involved in the development of current and future managers the department declares its willingness to progress in the implementation, within our institution, of the six principles for responsible management education, starting with those that are more relevant to our capacities and mission.
The department’s field of study and competence for Sustainability & Business Ethics offers university programs related to sustainability and energy management and is involved in corresponding research projects, too. Sustainability and Energy are interconnected in our future energy system. This know-how regarding sustainable systems accompanied by change processes, are developed and taught in cooperation with the Styrian Association of Consulting Engineers. Hence with this cooperation, the activities within this specialized field are led by interdisciplinary of the technology, economy and management as well as by the benefits of synergies between university and economic practice.
