[LIS] Learning and Innovation Spaces for Continuing Education

Social and technological developments increase the importance of transdisciplinary lifelong learning, the understanding of complex systems and the creative development of new knowledge. This requires not only didactic and methodological developments in the field of continuing education, but also changes in the demands on learning environments and learning infrastructures. In different disciplines such as architecture and building research, educational research or creativity and innovation research different knowledge is available about the requirements of spatial environments for learning and innovation and the influence of spatial characteristics on health, well-being and behaviour of teachers and learners.

The specific demands on learning and innovation spaces for continuing education are currently little investigated, although it is known that adult education differs considerably from learning in formal education systems.

The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of the design of multidimensional learning and innovation spaces on the success of continuing education in the context of current social and technological developments. This is done by integrating the scientific expertise of various disciplines in a transdisciplinary process, using experiential case encounter and involving all relevant stakeholders.
