Thematic Workshops

During thematic workshops mostly held in Ethiopia, European Partners contribute professional trainings on specific topics of their expertise for Indian Partners’ academic staff:

  • Social Inclusion (DUK-MIG)
    (including migration studies)
  • Sustainable energy management (DUK-WMW)
(including sustainable building and energy efficiency)
  • Participatory mapping (UTWENTE-ITC)
(including social indicators, community quality of life monitoring; GIS; slum mapping, upgrading and governance)

The applicability of this know how in the specific framework conditions of the target regions will be jointly assessed by all partners during Thematic Workshops.

This will makes sure that the case studies and course descriptions to be developed in this project benefit best from European Partners’ specific know how regarding informal settlements and poor urban communities

Based on European partners’ input, intensive discussions among all partners will enhance all partners’ mutual understanding of specific local conditions and needs in the target regions. These will support shaping concepts for course development in each Ethiopian partner institution. Joint discussion of these concepts will help identify synergies of partners and possible cooperation in course development and case study design in WP 2.
