Writing Task. Opinion Piece on the Negative Effects of Eviction
In paragraph 3.4 of Chapter 3 the wide-ranging
negative effects of evictions for various people are discussed in detail. For
this assignment we want you to imagine one of the situations people can end up
after eviction.
Write an ‘op-ed’* for your local newspaper (max. 600 words) outlining the impact of eviction on individuals and on families.
Apart from describing the situation
we want you to include your personal definition of the meaning of “home” and
the importance of stable housing in the piece as well.
* An op-ed is an opinion piece. Most op-eds in local newspapers are syndicated columns by national columnists, but newspapers can and do run opinion columns submitted by members of the community as well.
